Efficient Sulfate Adsorption on Modified Adsorbents Prepared from Zea mays Stems

The effect of temperature on the sulfate adsorption capacity adsorbents prepared from corn stalks (Zea mays) was evaluated. Two bioadsorbents were biomass: a biochar modified with H2SO4 mass: volume ratio 1:1 (B 1:1), and cellulose cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC). There also determined thermodynamic parameters (?G°, ?S° ?H°) it studied kinetics isotherm. At 25 °C obtained highest 16.4 7.4 mg/g mass/volume B (MC) respectively; observed an adverse increase bioadsorbents’ performance. showed that process is exothermic, not spontaneous, given by chemisorption. Adsorption equilibrium reached at 420 min pseudo-second-order model adjusted experimental data R2 > 0.98 qe 16.64 7.48 for as well MC. isotherm good fit to Freundlich’s when using 1:1, whereas MC Dubinin-Radushkevich’s model. Zea mays stems are abundant agricultural residue source preparation type extraction cellulose, its use recommended in removal sulfates solution.
